Sex Offender Arrested in Attempted Elementary School Kidnapping

Alamogordo authorities say a man has been arrested in connection with an attempted kidnapping at an elementary school.

Timothy McKearney was taken into custody Friday in Tularosa after the Alamogordo Department of Public Safety issued an arrest warrant for him.

They say McKearney was a registered sex offender in Vermont. Alamogordo authorities are working with state police to determine whether McKearney had to register as a sex offender when he moved to New Mexico.

Police Arrest Sex Offender On School Property

Police arrested Charles Harris after finding him parked in the parking lot of an elementary school in Charlotte Thursday.

Officers said Harris was parked at Wingate Park Elementary and charged him with sex offender unlawfully on school property.

According to police, Harris is registered as a sex offender in Gaston County.

By law, Harris is not allowed on school property.
