Sex offender cited for being near school

A 25-year-old convicted sex offender was cited on June 8 for being at Gavilan Hills Elementary School without permission. Police said the man was on the school's soccer field while two groups of people were having a picnic. School was not in session at the time, but the man's sex offender status prohibits him from being at the school at any time. A police officer in the area recognized the man then cited and released him.
